What the guides are
HOA Community Desk publishes general, neutral explanations of how community-association governance works — authority, notice, records, voting, assessments, violations, and dispute paths. Guides separate broad principles from state and local requirements, but HOA and condominium law varies widely by state and your association’s own governing documents control.
Not legal advice
- Nothing here is legal advice, and reading it creates no attorney–client or advisory relationship.
- Before acting on a deadline, a dispute with your board, an assessment challenge, or a fine, check your declaration, bylaws, rules, and current state statute — and consult a licensed attorney in your state where the stakes warrant it.
- We do not represent homeowners or associations and do not take sides in a specific dispute.
